Client: Taylor Wimpey Strategic Land (Eastern)
Buntingford is a town with plans to expand and has subsequently been granted permission to provide 1,400 new homes in the period up to 2021.
The Client previously appointed Matrix to help them secure permission for this development in the town and as a result, a housing project is now under construction. The Client has appointed us again to advise on the feasibility of bringing forward another 100 dwellings on an adjacent site.
The objective of this service was to establish whether it is premature in seeking permission for the site or whether the town’s transport system could accommodate the associated movement, taking into account committed new development and associated infrastructure changes.
Through cataloguing existing transport demand and supply and identifying the pattern of movement in the longer term, Matrix has been able to assess the likely operation of transport systems in the future and potential difficulties, which may arise, when bringing forward the housing project.
We have successfully been able to confirm to the Client that only minimal investment in improvement to the development site accessibility is needed and will be sufficient enough, to enable a scheme of 100 new homes to be accommodated.
