Senior Flood Risk Engineer
Bristol

Matrix Transport & Infrastructure is a small but ambitious and dynamic consulting practice, working primarily in the development planning sector. With offices in Bristol and Sheffield, we provide a range of transport planning, traffic engineering, and infrastructure design services to support development proposals all around the UK.

In order to support growth – not just in the volume of our workload but also critically in the breadth of the services that we offer – we are looking to recruit a Senior Flood Risk Analyst within our Bristol office.

The candidate will have experience and expertise in the provision of Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and design, (hydraulic modeling would be a benefit but not essential) , and the ability to technically lead, manage and deliver a wide range of projects in flood risk and drainage.  The role will also involve developing and winning new work in flood risk and drainage sectors.

Skills 
Essential;

  • Flood risk management experience, including the use of WinDES/Micro Drainage software suite plus technically leading and managing projects
  • Preparation of Outline Drainage Strategies
  • Project management and work winning experience
  • Client Facing, proposal writing and report reviewing/approval experience

Desirable;

  • Hydraulic modeling experience
  • Surface water and foul drainage design experience
  • Sustainable drainage (SuDS) design experience

CAD Technician, Bristol

We currently hold an excellent opportunity for an AutoCAD Technician to develop their career within the Highways and Traffic Consulting Services sector where you will be offered further on the job training in the use of AutoCAD and associated software.

Your duties will be to produce Highway Engineering drawings from Engineers sketches and “mark ups” and to produce a range of drawings and figures for use in technical reports. You would also be expected to be undertake the day-to-day duties required to support the efficient operation of a technical team including site visits.

With further training, which we would provide, other duties will include assisting more experienced colleagues with the analysis of different types of road junctions and to become involved in the use of vehicle swept path modelling using AutoTrack and potentially 3-D highways design and ground modelling software.

Candidates should possess the following attributes:

  • Working towards a degree in Civil Engineering or HND in Traffic & Highways
  • Logical, numerate and well-organized with a good spatial understanding
  • Confidence in the use of AutoCAD 2D (3D desirable but not essential)
  • Good IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player
  • Outline knowledge of NRSWA, DMRB, TSRGD 2016 and TD/TAs

The successful candidate will be based at Matrix’s office in Bristol City Centre. Management will be through the Directors of Matrix, however, a line manager will be appointed to oversee day-to-day duties and to assign and prioritise project work.
